Described as unorthodox folk, psychedelic and experimental pop, Beth
Jeans Houghton and her four-piece, The Hooves of Destiny, have an
utterly refreshing sound.
Incorporating everything from glockenspiel to strings,
and ukulele to percussion, their sound soars, gallops and pauses all at
once.
After releasing a successful EP two years ago, Beth Jeans Houghton
and her band have returned, this time with their debut album.
Front woman Beth Jeans Houghton is from Newcastle in the UK, and began playing music as a sixteen year-old.
After falling in love with a Japanese Fender Stratocaster in a shop
window, she quickly taught herself how to play and it wasn't long until
she was performing nervously in front of a crowd at her local pub.
From there she got up on stage with Devendra Banhart, and has since supported Bon Ivor and Saharan blues band Tinariwen.
Touted as 'one to watch for 2012', Beth Jeans Houghton and the Hooves of Destiny are a compelling discovery.
